A notification appeared and informed me I had just learned a new skill. Cool cool, trying not to die here. I closed the alert and forced myself to calmly walk the last block to the street. I quietly slid up the stairs without making eye contact with anyone.

I wasn’t overly concerned about being found, now that I was well away from the scene of the crime. I doubted the guard had much of a description from our brief encounter. I had taken off so fast that I was out of sight before I even made my first jump. It took maybe another ten seconds to make it back to the street. I had been in my room for a good five minutes before I started to hear the commotion outside.

I jotted out a quick note and slid it under Tash's door, explaining that I had run into a bit of trouble and needed to get out of town for now. I promised I would be back soon and left a few gold pieces to help pay for the rooms. I suggested Tash see what information she could gather in the meantime and we would begin hunting the hand once I returned.

I had discussed the local hunting areas around the town with the soldiers from the caravan during the long trip. After they saw how easily I had dispatched the Tinamou, they were convinced that I could hunt the plains of Navarranga to the north of Nakar. They claimed this area was known to be home to many great beasts and merchants would pay good money for the corpses of these dangerous creatures.

I checked my map to find a good way past the guards at the main gate. There were four roads that led out of the town. Two to the north of the river and two to the south. I wanted to avoid the gates if I could, seeing as how the guards were liable to be still looking for me and on high alert right now.

I plotted a route that kept me off the lighted streets of the main thoroughfares and used my shadow amulet to jump past a few patrolling guards until I made it to the north wall. I waited for a moment while the last guards passed by and then shadow jumped to the top of the wall and disappeared into the shadows of the trees to the north.
